Furano is a city in Japan’s Hokkaido prefecture noted for its lavender fields, such as Farm Tomita with views of Mount Tokachi. Besides lavender, poppies, lilies and sunflowers also grow in the Kamikafurano 「上富良野」 area.
Furano’s famous lavender is used in all sorts of foods, perfumes, soaps and other products – even ice cream! Personally, I recommend the lavender shortbread cookies. If you ever visit Hokkaido during the summer, see if you can find some!
